How do I create a QR code?

QR codes are a fantastic way to share online resources via physical print and they're easier to create than you might think.

Simply put, anyone can create a QR code online for any link imaginable and since the rollout of the Track & Trace app of 2020/21, almost all demographics are now familiar with this technology. Which is exactly why you should use QR codes in your physical print marketing.

The team at Homesearch have defaulted to the webpage QR Code Monkey to create ours. However, we're not affiliated with this site and other QR code creation sites are available.

To create your own QR code, simply provide these creation websites with your URL/weblink, choose a Hex colour, upload a logo image if you like and style the QR code. It's that simple. Just make sure you download the QR code via the button available, rather than right clicking the image and selecting "save as".

You now have a QR code linking with whatever URL or webpage you needed it to. Try it yourself, hold your mobile phone camera up to it and the weblink should appear as a popup to navigate to.

So now that we can make QR codes, what next?

Well there are multiple uses for these codes. In the rest of this article, we would like to provide some examples.

Linking your Lead Magnet

The Homesearch Lead Magnet is a great call to action for homeowners to check out what their local property market is doing. It contains it's own "get in touch" option and can take the place of an instant online valuation tool, although it doesn't actually value houses. Even if the homeowner doesn't opt to get in touch right away, we'll send you a list of searched properties the next morning. So if you have dispatched letters to 100 houses, and a couple those are searched via a scanned Lead Magnet QR code, well you know your letters have worked and you'll probably want to keep in touch with those interested properties. They're likely to sell this year.

Typically the call to action to accompany a Lead Magnet QR code would be "What's the market like for your home? Scan the QR code to find out";

Similarly to the Lead Magnet, the public Homesearch links for sales and lettings lead generation, Homefinder and Landlord work just as well as QR codes.

The call to action to accompany these QR codes would be either "Struggling to find your next home? Start your search with us" for Homefinder or "Compare your property portfolio here, and let us help you find another opportunity" for the Landlord lead generation link.

Linking to YouTube videos

Another use case for QR codes is YouTube videos. Whether your introducing your market to a personalized buyer profile video as mentioned in the home finder letter campaign, or simply showcasing a property's virtual tour, QR codes are an excellent way of promoting your social media content.

With Social media in mind, maybe you also create a follow us on Facebook QR code?

Linking to calendars or book a valuation landing pages

This option gives a homeowner a direct way of booking in their own valuations with your team. Or perhaps you want to share your calendar link for people to book in specific meetings, like a home finding consultation.

Linking to Reviews

We all like a good review, maybe you want to share all of your Google Reviews at once, or simply share the option for people to leave you a review.

These QR codes could accompany sold in your road or 20/20 type letters to easily share more information about your recent successes. It has the added benefit of driving more traffic to your website too.

Alternatively, if you're marketing exclusive high end properties, or driving interest in a listing before it hits the portals, QR codes linking to properties for sale on your website is another great idea to promote them via a letter drop.

Lastly, while we've focused on QR codes for letters in this article, these scannable codes should also be considered for Sold Boards, Window Displays, Newsletters, Bus Stops and more. Any place with footfall really.
